Simple Image Editing Tool

Let’s be honest: we won’t post anything on our social media accounts without touching up our images first—whether we’re covering up a blemish with the heal tool or adding a filter to hide flaws, photo editing has become the cornerstone for publishing content online. I know I’m guilty of this. I challenge you to find somebody who never, ever has. So, with that prominence, shouldn’t there be a photo editing tool that’s both easy-to-use and advanced? Unless you’re going all out and using Photoshop on every image you post on social media, it’s hard to find photo editing tools with all the functionalities we need to create our social media content. Many of the photo editing tools I’ve used in the past have such limited capabilities—few filters to choose from, inadequate adjustment tools, and poor usability. At one time, I had around 5 different photo editing apps installed on my phone specifically for my social media content, because each one had a distinctive feature. That was—until I found Pixlr. Pixlr is an image tool, with a variety of photo editing capabilities including countless filters, various overlays, color fixing and resizing tools, collage layouts, and more. Oh, and did I mention that Pixlr is currently FREE to use online and FREE to download on your mobile device? While you have to endure some advertisements (unless, of course, you want to pay for ad removal), it is totally worth it to get access to all their tools and features to create spectacular social media content. Pixlr makes advanced editing of mobile and social media content accessible. I generally use the mobile app, but the desktop version is also great. When you launch the app, you have the option to take a live picture, choose from your phone’s gallery, or create a collage. Once you have your image loaded into Pixlr, there’s a bar at the bottom of your phone’s screen with a toolbox icon, a brush icon, a star icon, a frame icon, and a text icon. There is no description as to what these icons are, so you might have to play around with it to familiarize yourself with where everything is. One of my favorite features of Pixlr is the brush/eraser tool in the upper left corner of the screen (turquoise circle with an eraser icon). This tool acts almost like a selection tool. For example, if you want to apply a certain filter only to certain areas of your image, this tool allows you to do that. In this image, you can see what the photo would have looked like with the Amber filter over the entire image versus the Amber filter only applied to the sky. You can use this eraser tool for any of the features in Pixlr. The options are endless. This is what really sets Pixlr apart from other mobile and social media content tools. Another one of my favorite features of the mobile app is that its compatibility with social media. With the mobile version, once you’ve finished editing your image, you can immediately upload it to your desired social media platform, which makes this the ultimate social media content editing tool.
